Browse categoryAbout Urdu Shayari
Urdu poetry has spent more than seven centuries learning how to say difficult things gently. From the earliest Dakhini verses to the ghazals of Mir and Ghalib, and on to the modern voices of Faiz, Parveen Shakir and Jaun Elia, it has carried the emotional memory of an entire culture — love and separation, protest and patience, faith and doubt.
This site exists to keep that tradition readable. Rather than publishing verses with no context, every collection here is written with explanation: what the poet meant, where the imagery comes from, and why a particular couplet still lands two hundred years after it was written. Readers who do not read the Urdu script will find transliteration and English meaning alongside the original.
